RE: ACCEPT PETITIONS FOR AN INITIATED ORDINANCE FROM GROUP KNOWN
AS PROTECT OUR WATER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 15-4 of the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, the Board of County Commissioners may adopt an
Initiated Ordinance or submit said ordinace to an election of the
registered electors of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, petitions for an Initiated Ordinance were submitted
by representatives of the group known as Protect Our Water (POW)
to Mary Ann Feuerstein, Clerk and Recorder for the County of Weld,
and
WHEREAS, the Clerk and Recorder reviewed said petitions and
found that the petitions are proper in form and contain sufficient
signatures to meet the requirements of Section 15-4 of the Home
Rule Charter for Weld County, and
WHEREAS, at the regular Board meeting of January 8, 1990,
said petitions were submitted to the Board of County Commissioners
by the Clerk and Recorder, and
WHEREAS, after- c-onsideration, the Board deems it advisable to
accept said petitions for study and consideration and to continue
the decision on whether to adopt or submit to election, to January
29 , 1990, at 9 : 00 a.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the petitions for an
Initiated Ordinance be, and hereby are, accepted for study and
consideration with the decision continued to January 29 , 1990 , at
9 :00 a.m.
