RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING CONTROL OF BARKING DOGS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has received a request that an ordinance
concerning barking dogs be enacted in Weld County, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to refer said request
to the County Attorney ' s Office for recommendation, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the request for an
ordinance concerning barking dogs be, and hereby is, referred to
the County Attorney' s Office for recommendation.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 11th day of
April, A.D. , 1990 .

We are concerned about the increased barking of your dogs at night;this is a disturbance to
everyone in the sinfully. We would greatly appreciate your coorperation In preventing the barking
at night. You have a solution to this problem that many dog ownen 63 not have;at night your dogs
can be kept inside the building that the pens ere attached to. If you keep the dogs inside the building
between the time that you retire at night and go to work in the morning,during the summr months
only, the problem would be completely solved.
We hope that you will take this action.

To the Weld County Board of Commissioners:
We are writing in support of a law for controlling barking dogs in Weld
County. Approximately 40,000 people now live in rural areas of the county
but have no legal protection from neighbors who have dogs that are chained
or penned outside, and that bark night and day.
We have had considerable difficulty with barking dogs in Northmoor Acres,
• southwest of Johnstown. The neighbors closest to us have three dogs that
bark early in the morning and throughout the day. We have talked to the
neighbors, sent letters, and even sent a letter with signatures of other people
in the neighborhood (copy enclosed). These efforts have not helped.
We need to have a law for Weld County like the law in Latimer County for
control of barking dogs. This would improve the quality of life for all rural
people in the county who need the same protections as town people.
