Certified Professional Geologist 7. n C' `,I I TO II` - July 30, 1990 Clerk to the Board Weld County Commissioners Greeley, Colorado Under the authority of that particular Resolution dated August 28, 1985 re Weld County's policy for extending the terms of all mineral leases and incorporation of said policy in the administrative manual, I hereby wish to apply for extension of Oil and Gas Leases on behalf of PanCanadian Petroleum Company. I have entered into an agreement with PanC,anadian, as attested to by the attached correspondence. As well as extending the the terms of the leases I wish to request authority for PanCanadian to assign the leases to me. There are two leases in question, identified as follows: 1. NE'/a, Si/NW'/a, SEi/a, SW'/a of Sec. 15 T7N R63W as recorded in Book 1167, Rec. No. 02111298, containing 560 acres 2. All of Sec. 21 T7N R63W as recorded in Book 1167, Rec. No. 02111299, containing 640 acres Both of the above leases are dated August 5, 1987. Under the previously cited authority, I request a 6 month extension of each lease. I attach two checks, one in the amount of $3,522.13, and the second in the amount of $3,081.87. Each check includes one third of the original bonus for each lease, plus the annual rental payment of$1 per net acre. I thank you for your attention to this matter. These are the leases that expire August 5, 1990. Please note that these leases require authorization to assign. You might want to visit with Weld County about that prior to proceeding further. The section 20 leases are fee and there are about eight (8) of them. These leases don't expire until 1992 . When you are closer to drilling a well on that section, let me know and I ' ll get you copies. PanCANADIAN owns Weld County oil and gas leases in Sections 15, 20, and 21, T7N, 63W, with earliest expirations in August, 1990. 2. I propose to drill, or cause to be drilled, a well in either the SW'/a of Section 15, or the NE1/4 of Section 21, the well being of sufficient depth to test the Cretaceous "J" Sand. 3. In consideration for the drilling of this proposed well, PanCANADIAN agrees to assign to to me their leasehold right under the Section drilled, subject to the retention of a 5% overriding royalty (assigning to me an 821/4% NRI). 4. In like manner, I shall have the privelege of earning the leasehold rights in each of the other two Sections by the drilling of additional "J" Sand tests. PanCANADIAN shall likewise retain a 5% overriding royalty interest. If the above correctly recites your understanding of our verbal agreement, will you kindly so acknowledge same as provided for herein below, and return a signed copy of this letter to this office.
