HomeMy WebLinkAbout930335.tiff WELD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PROCLAMATION To Recognize and Honor the Work and Achievements of Colorado's Public Health System during Colorado's first Public Health Week: "Health to Match Our Mountains" WHEREAS the State of Colorado has been ranked as the seventh healthiest state in our nation and is considered to be one of the most desirable in the United States for quality of life with bountiful natural resources and a beautiful environment; and WHEREAS despite these gifts, many citizens (both young and old) lack access to affordable preventive health care and basic medical services, and our environment, though beautiful, is fragile in many places and subject to potentially destructive forces; and WHEREAS every Coloradan is beneficially affected by local and state public health services from birth to death and day by day; and WHEREAS such services include assurance of water and air quality, food establishment inspections, sanitation inspections, communicable disease control, immunizations, nutrition education and supplemental foods, injury prevention, cancer prevention and screening, prenatal care, well child care and consumer protection; and WHEREAS the Colorado Public Health Association, the Colorado Environmental Health Association, the Colorado Department of Health and the U.S. Public Health Service, Region VIII, have come together to sponsor Colorado Public Health Week from April 12-16th, 1993 to increase awareness of the role of public health and to celebrate the considerable accomplishments of our public health system; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Weld County Board of Commissioners fully endorse Colorado Public Health Week and urge the citizens of Weld County, our local health department, community nursing services and community clinics to sponsor and participate in activities which promote awareness and honor Colorado's public health system.
