HomeMy WebLinkAbout470002.tiff• RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, within 30 days heretofore, did establish a County Health Department for said County, pursuant to statute, and WHEREAS, it now becomes incumbent on this Board to proceed to organize said department by the appointment of a County Board of Health, and provided by statute, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by said Board of County Commissioners that a Board of Health for Weld County, Colorado, be and it is hereby appointed, and that said Board of Health shall consist of the following members who are hereby appointed for the respective terms herein stated, to wit: .5/7'Carl D. Lyster, northeast of Greeley, president of the Weld county advisory health council, two yea rs. Dr. Ella Mead, Greeley. secre-1 terry of the county medical society three years. G. 1;. Winter, Windsor, member of the county agricultural advisory committee, four years. Benjamin Woodcock, Fort Lup- ton. attorney, five years. Hereafter appointments will be made for a full term of five years. The board was formulated under senate bill No. 83, passed by the last session of the state legislature. The bill is an act relating to pub- lic health and providing for the establishment and maintenance of county and district health depart- ments. In making the appointments, the commissioners sought to form a hoard that would be widely rep- resentative, non-partisan and at- tire. The bill states that the mem- bers shall serve without compensa-! tion but shall he reimbursed ford their actual and necessary travel- ing and subsistence expenses when absent from their places of real-' dence Undern attendance meetings. the bill the board and the health department have legal juris- diction over all rural and urban areas. Regular meetings of the board,' the act states, shall be held not less than once every three months, at such flute or times as maybe fixed by resolution of the board. Special meetings may be called by the president, by the county or dis- trict public health officer, or by a majority of the members of the board. Duties of the board are to es- tablish general policies the of the health department, advise health officer, issue orders and adopt rules and regulations regard- ing health, bold hearings, appoint health officer, and prepare budget of the health department to be submitted to the county commis- sioners. First meeting of the Weld county board is being planned for the first week in June. Dr. Roy Cleere, di- rector of the state health depart- ment, has been invited to attend the first meeting. Commenting on the bill,_.Dr• Maurice D. Vest, administrator of the Weld county health de wit ment, said that one effect or the act was to strengthen the tion of the health department in law enforcement.
