Conversation with Malcolm Dayton, Weld County

On Thursday, February 6, 1992, I spoke with Malcolm Dayton,
Director, Weld County Humane Society, about reports he has received
concerning the JJ Pet Ranch, located north of Greeley. Mr. Dayton
told me that the Pet Ranch has been sold to two individuals who are
operating the business as a pet boarding facility. Mr. Dayton told
me that he has received reports that the new owners of the facility
are raising puppies at the facility. Apparently one of the owners
stated to the complaining individual that he has somewhere between
40 and 80 puppies which are for sale. That type of activity is
generally known as a "puppy mill. "
Mr. Dayton asked me to pass this information along to the Planning
and Zoning Department for that Department to determine whether or
not such activity is in violation of the Use by Special Review
Permit Development Standards . Mr. Dayton' s telephone number is
