Webster, Chairman, Board of County Commissi ners FROM: Judy Griego, Director, Department of Social Services SUBJECT: Revision to Section 8 Administrative Plan DATE: October 19, 1994 As discussed at the Housing Authority Work Session of October 17, 1994, final Board action is needed to amend our Section 8 Administrative Plan to modify our claims policy. Currently, the policy does not specify an exact time allotted for landlords to submit a damage claim against a Section 8 participant who has vacated a unit and left it damaged. This has resulted in claims being turned in as much as a year later, when the file has long since been inactive, and at times had been put in storage at the missile site. The Proposed change is as follows: The Administrative plan will state that a landlord must submit a damage claim within 30 days of the tenant's move-out date, unless a 60 day period of time is specified in the lease. Staff recommends Board approval of the proposed policy. If you have any questions, please telephone me at extension 6200. 941047 Hello
