HomeMy WebLinkAbout910360.tiff RESOLUTION RE: DESIGNATION OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, Section 29-22-102(3) (b) , CRS, requires that the Board of County Commissioners of every county in the State designate, by resolution, the Emergency Response Authority for hazardous substance incidents occurring within the unincorporated areas of the county, and WHEREAS, by Resolution on June 29, 1983, the Office of Emergency Management, at the Weld County Sheriff's Office, was designated as the Emergency Response Authority (DERA) for hazardous substance incidents occurring within the unincorporated areas of Weld County, effective July 1, 1983, and WHEREAS, Ed Herring became the Emergency Management Director for the Office of Emergency Management on February 8, 1988, and WHEREAS, the statuatory scheme concerning hazardous substance responses set forth in Sections 29-22-101, et seq. , CRS, contemplate the designation of one individual as the DERA so as to provide clear and concise command authority in the response to hazardous substance incidents, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County deems it advisable to designate Ed Herring as the DERA for hazardous substance incidents occuring within the unincorporated areas of Weld County in order to clarify the chain of command authority for such incidents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that Ed Herring, Emergency Management Director for the Office of Emergency Management, be, and hereby is, designated as the Emergency Response Authority (DERA) for hazardous substance incidents occurring within the unincorporated areas of Weld County, Colorado, effective upon the signing of this Resolution.
