WELD COUNTY DISTRICT RE-7
GLEN M. HANSON, SUPERINTENDENT
December 15, 1992
Weld County Commissioners
County Buildings
Greeley, CO 80631
Commissioners:
This letter is to inform you that the Platte Valley Board of Education and administration are
providing the 30 days written notice required by contract to terminate our contract with Family
Educational Network (FENWC).
With termination of the contract the school district will return the $70,000 provided by Weld
County to assist in the construction of Preschool/Headstart facilities attached to the
elementary building in Kersey.
We are taking this action because it has become apparent our service to student"
philosophies are not compatible and the hierarchy of supervisors makes it too difficult, if not
impossible, to resolve problems without spending unreasonable amounts of time or losing
good staff members in the process.
We plan to begin full operation of the Preschool on January 4, 1993, without supervision from
the FENWC staff, but will honor our contract for the 30 days as per contract. We would like
to provide preschool services to those children identified and already enrolled to receive
Headstart and for those parents who wish to have their children continue with the educational
services at Platte Valley.
We may be interested in contracting our facility to FENWC for Headstart services in our
community beginning the summer of 1993 if that is the best or only way of meeting the
Headstart needs of this community.
Sincerely,
