RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF "STOP" AND "STOP AHEAD" SIGNS ON WELD COUNTY ROAD
45 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 42
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department has recommended to the
Board that "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs be installed on Weld County Road 45 at
Weld County Road 42, to insure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic devices are necessary
for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Engineering be, and hereby is, directed
to install "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs on Weld County Road 45 at Weld County
Road 42, for the safety of the general public, and that said signs must conform
to the State manual and specifications.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the following vote on the 14th day of September, A.D. , 1992.

Ladies and Gentlemen :
I have a farm located adjacent to the intersection of Weld
County Roads 45 & 42, Southeast of LaSalle.
The intersection is unprotected by signs with a tall corn crop
on the Northwest field, blocking the view of traffic proceeding
East and South into the intersection .
I have witnessed traffic proceeding through the intersection
from the North and West without slowing down. This has included
school buses and oil trucks . The oil trucks are usually
speeding way above any reasonable speeds .
A four-way stop or stop signs protecting 45 as a through road
may be of some help.
Action before deaths might be a wonderful effort. Not knowing
if the effort saved a life is better than knowing at a point in
the future that a stop sign etc. might of prevented an accident .
I appreciate your thoughtful consideration knowing that this is
not the only problem on your plate today .
