PROPOSED BY LAW CHANGE, ARTICLE IV, SECTION 6
AREA AGENCY ON AGING BY LAWS
A change in the Area Agency on Aging By Laws is being proposed to accommodate
a restructuring of the Weld County Senior Nutrition Advisory Council and the
Ombudsman Advisory Board. These committees currently function as advisory
groups to the Senior Nutrition Program and the Nursing Home Ombudsman Programs
respectively. Neither committee is technically established to directly advise
the County Board of Commissioners as is the case with the AAA Board. The
restructuring is proposed to enhance communication between the AAA Board and
the programs for which it is responsible and to streamline staff involvement
with AAA committees. Ultimately, the proposed restructuring will clarify the
lines of communication between these various committees to the Board of
Commissioners.
Article IV, Section 6 currently reads as follows:
The Advisory Board will appoint standing subcommittees to function for the
duration of each planning and budgeting year of the Area Agency on Aging.
Such subcommittees will be established to provide advice and assistance to the
Advisory Board and staff in carrying out the goals and objectives of the
planning and budgeting year for which they are established. Each subcommittee
shall elect from its members a chairperson. The Chairperson will also be a
member of the Executive Committee and will serve for the duration of the
planning and budgeting year. Subcommittees will meet at the discretion of the
Board.
Article IV, Section 6 is proposed to read as follows:
The Advisory Board will establish committees to provide advice and assistance
to the Advisory Board and staff in carrying out the objectives of the Area
Agency on Aging. At a minimum, two standing committees will be established, a
Committee on Nutrition and Senior Centers and a Long Term Care Ombudsman
Committee. Other committees may be appointed at the discretion of the
Advisory Board.
Membership on committees shall be comprised at a minimum of one person from
the Area Agency Board who will serve as chairman of the committee and liaison
to the board. Other members may be appointed from the board and from the
community at large.
