RE: Request Concerning
Minerals in East Half
Northwest Quarter, 2-3-66
Dear Mr. Koinzan:
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, has
received your letter dated April 16 , 1992, requesting a lease for
minerals owned by Weld County in Section 2 , Township 3 North, Range
66 West of the 6th P .M. , Weld County, Colorado.
Our records show that the East Half (E2 ) of the Northwest Quarter
(NW) of 2-3-66 has been under production from a well called the
"Chris Lorenz ' B' Unit. " This information comes from a Division
Order which the Board of County Commissioners executed on March 5 ,
1975 , with Amoco Production Company. A copy of the Division Order
is enclosed. Additionally, I have checked with the State Oil and
Gas Commission and they say that the well was recompleted in
December, 1991 . The well is referred to as "No. 64106 . "
Please contact me at ( 303) 356-4000 , extension 4391, or in writing
at P . O. Box 1948 , Greeley, CO 80632 , in order to inform me of any
evidence which you may have which shows that the production at the
well has ceased.
Sincerely,
Bruce

Re: Weld County Minerals
E/2NW/4 Section 2 ,
Township 3 North, Range 66 West
Weld County, Colorado
Dear Sir,
Elk Exploration, Inc. ("Elk") is an interest owner in an oil
and gas lease from the Weld County Commissioners covering the
captioned lands (Codell and Niobrara formations only 100%) . These
lands were being held by production via a north half spacing unit
Section 2 , T3N, R66W. In order to verify that the existing oil
and gas lease is in full force and effect, we respectfully
request that the Weld County Commissioners advise Elk of the
current status of this oil and gas lease. If the lease is in
effect, we will continue on an drill a well on the property
within the next few months. If the lease is not in effect we
request that the Weld County Commissioners allow us to either
renew it or be granted an extension of time in order for Elk to
drill a well on the property. If it is not in effect and the
lease cannot be renewed or extended, we request the lease be
placed for sale as soon as possible and that Elk be placed on the
mailing list for Weld County lease auctions.
If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate
to contact the undersigned at either the Denver or Evans address.
Your expedient review of this matter is greatly appreciated.
Very tu yours,
( Craig S. K zan
