County, Colorado to report to the people the events that have shaped the previous
quarter. This report summarizes the activities of the Weld County Council during
the first quarter of the calendar year 1993.
In January, the Council agreed that it would benefit the citizens of Weld
County to continue holding regular meetings at various locations throughout the
County during the year. The following schedule was determined:
February 3 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
March 3 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
April 7 Kersey Town Hall
May 5 Lochbuie Town Hall
June 2 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
July 7 Milliken Town Hall
August 4 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
September 1 Severance Town Hall
October 6 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
November 3 Firestone City Hall
December 1 Weld County Centennial Center--Greeley
A resolution regarding this decision was adopted by the Council at the March
meeting. David L. Young was elected President of the Council for a second term
and Ralph Campbell was elected Vice President during the January meeting. New
Assignment Areas for Council members were also determined. In response to
employee concerns regarding the Weld County Sheriff's Department reorganization,
this item was placed on the February agenda.
There was a large turnout of citizens and Sheriff's Department employees
at the February meeting, and the Council began discussions regarding the Weld
County Sheriff Department's reorganization. A special meeting was called for
February 17, during which Sheriff Ed Jordan addressed questions regarding the
reorganization presented by the Council. Public input on this issue continued
at the March meeting, and Council agreed to hold additional discussion its next
meeting.
During the course of the first quarter of 1993, the Council has met
periodically with the Commissioners and various Elected Officials and Department
