RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL OF STOP SIGNS ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 44 AT
WELD COUNTY ROAD 57
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department has recommended to the
Board that a Stop sign be installed on Weld County Road 44 at Weld County Road
57, to insure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department has recommended to the
Board that the existing Stop sign on Weld County Road 57 at Weld County Road 44
be removed, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said changes in traffic devices are
necessary for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Engineering be, and hereby is, directed
to install a Stop sign on Weld County Road 44 at Weld County Road 57, and to
remove the existing Stop sign on Weld County Road 57 at Weld County Road 44, for
the safety of the general public, and said signs must conform to the State manual
and specifications.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the following vote on the 8th day of November, A.D. , 1993.

Gentlemen:
We are writing to recommend that you make the intersection of
county roads 57 & 44 a four-way stop. At the present time this inter-
section is protected by a two-way stop sign and the north stop sign
for traffic headed south is down.
This is a dangerous intersection due to trees and a house on the
corner. A four-way stop there could possibly avert a serious accident.

Dear Mr. Wright:
I want to thank you for your letter of October 19, 1993, in which you brought
to attention the need for a study of the stop sign situation at the
intersection of Weld County Road (WCR) 57 & WCR 44.
After study, it was determined that there was indeed a need for a change at
this intersection. WCR 57 is now a through road. WCR 44 is stopped at this
intersection.
Once again, thank you for bringing this to the county's attention.
