RE: NOMINATING CENSUS TRACTS IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO, FOR DESIGNATION AS AN
ENTERPRISE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is soliciting
proposals for designating areas of high poverty as Empowerment Zones or
Enterprise Communities which would become eligible for federal assistance to
reduce such poverty levels, and
WHEREAS, research has revealed that seven census tracts encompassing areas
of Evans, Garden City, Greeley, and unincorporated lands of Weld County meet the
criteria for this designation, and
WHEREAS, following meetings with representatives of the several
jurisdictions and discussions with other local officials and representatives of
various community agencies, it has been determined that designation as an
Enterprise Community would have significant benefit to the residents, businesses
and property owners of the area, and an application should be submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, does hereby nominate census tracts 1, 2, 6, 7.01, 8, 5,
and 10 in Weld County for designation as an Enterprise Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chairman be, and hereby is,
authorized to execute the certification documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Weld County, Colorado, be, and
hereby is, authorized to file an application for designation as an Enterprise
Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Weld County, Colorado, will comply
with the local, state, and federal program requirements and participate in the
implementation of the Strategic Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that this Resolution shall become
effective immediately upon its passage.

2. Authorize'the Mayor to execute the certification documents;
3. Authorizes the City of Greeley to file an application for
designation as an Enterprise Community;

5. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage.
