Note : A mixture of grasses is preferred over a single spec es . Cool season
grasses will actively grow in the spring and for a short period in the fall .
They wi l l i:<e1y be docmant in the summer . Warm season grasses will be
actively growing in the middle of the summer . A mixture of grasses will
improve the quality of the pasture and extend the period of active growth and
nitrogen uptake . The objective of the cool season mix is to optimize the
nitrogen uptake by growing grasses in the spring and fall . Warm Season grasses
are included in the seeding mix fc.r the smoothed areas to compensate fcr their
removal by tha smoothing operations .

multiply the values in column ( 5 ) by the number of acres to be seeded . Interseeding
should be done with a grass drill which has small sweeps or other attachment able
to clear an .area 8-10 inches wide in front of the seed tube . 'reeding should be at
dicular to thright angles to the prevailiing winds . This mix is for trial use nn
