The last five years the Head Start Classrooms have been co-located in the Milliken Elementary School Building. The rapport between FENWC programs and the School District has been of the finest caliber and has benefitted the children and families of the community. The community of Weld School District RE-5J is growing and a total of six subdivisions are under construction in the area. Because of the rapid growth in the community, the School District regrettably, can no longer accommodate FENWC in its need for classroom space. The School District, and FENWC wish to continue their collaborative model; therefore, the School District has offered, at no cost to FENWC, land on the elementary school campus for FENWC classrooms. Due to the generous offer of the School District, FENWC is asking that The Region VIII, Head Start Bureau grant its request for a portable building to accommodate 2 classrooms for Head Start Children. By maintaining classrooms on the elementary school campus we may continue transition and other collaborative activities to maintain our partnership on behalf of the children and families of the community. Available, licensable space is limited in the area and would require much renovation. The addition of a portable facility would allow FENWC to expand the Head Start slots in the future and allow FENWC to provide year-round services to the community.
