COLORADO December 28, 1989 TO ALL ROAD AND BRIDGE ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS Bob Allison 2228 9th Avenue Greeley, CO 80631 Dear Mr. Allison: On March 19, 1981, the Road and Bridge Advisory Committee held its first meeting. At that time, the public was not satisfied with the condition of the road and bridge infrastructure in Weld County. Also, the funding outlook was bleak. The 1981 Road and Bridge budget was $6,696,093. (The 1989 budget is $13,722,279.) In the following eight years, the Committee studied the road and bridge system and made many valuable recommendations to the Board of Weld County Commissioners. The Committee has also supported the Commissioners through difficult policy decisions and through the Commissioners' efforts to increase funding. Detailed information on the condition of the paved road system has been gathered since 1985, with the adoption of the Pavement Management System. Attached is a copy of a graph titled "Weld County Paved Road Condition". The graph illustrates the dramatic improvement in the paved roads since 1985. The total system has changed from 20% good, 56% fair, and 24% poor in 1985, to 757 good, 20% fair, and 5% poor in 1989. Because of improvements in the road and bridge system, particularly in the paved road area, there have been no issues of importance for the Road and Bridge Advisory Committee to address. Therefore, the Commissioners will be dissolving the Road and Bridge Advisory Committee. The Committee would be • 9C 0a13 reformed by the Commissioners if issues arise that require further study and your assistance in identifying these issues is requested. The Board of Weld County Commissioners wishes to express its appreciation for your valuable contribution to Weld County. Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS C. W. Kirby,/Chairman x.. Gene R.
