NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the request from School District RE-10J be, and hereby is, denied. Box 125 Briggsdale, CO 80611 RE: Weld County Road 88 between WCRs 69 and 71 Dear Mr. Baxter: This letter is to confirm our conversation of April 17, 1989. In order for this road to receive regular maintenance, it must be a part of our maintained road system. ' There are several problems with this stretch including the fact that the road does not follow the county's present right-of-way. In checking to see if 60 foot right-of-way was available (this is the standard amount used to create a 24' wide road), we found that Weld County owns right-of-way in Section 26 (30' ), but does not own any in Section 35. In order for this road to be accepted, it would require that the driving surface be at least 24 foot wide (primarily for safety reasons). Without the right-of-way, Weld County would not be able to build the road to these specifications. It also appears to me that either cattle guards or a right-of-way fence would need to be installed and the dam on the east end is completely out of our right-of-way; 200 - 300 foot south of it. The dam is also too narrow for the required 24' gravel road. This suggests that it probably would need to be replaced. After reviewing all the facts surrounding the upgrade, I seriously doubt that the county would be in a position to accept any of the expense at this time. If you have any further questions regarding this, please contact me and I will be ad to answer them for you. n e ely,/ Ge r e Goodell Director GG/1relOj xc: Commissioner Lacy Weld County Road 83 File 's 900591 ./*%.// RESOLUTION RE: ACTION OF THE BOARD CONCERNING REQUEST FOR MAINTENANCE ON EXTENSION OF WCR 88 WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has received a request from School District RE-10J for grading and graveling of the extension of Weld County Road 88 , between Weld County Roads 69 and 71 , and WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to refer said request to the Road and Bridge Department for its recommendation. Box 758 Greeley, CO 80632 Dear Members of the Commission : The Board of Education , Weld County School District RE-10J , Briggsdale , Colorado, respectfully requests that the road between the Benson and Ball ranches be graded and graveled. This road, extension of Road 88 lying one mile south of Highway 14 between Roads 69-71 , has been cared for by Mr . Roland Ball for personal use . However , as the district bus picks up children at both the Ball 's and Benson's, it is much safer and more convenient to use this road, which reduces the number of times the bus must enter and leave the highway. Therefore , in the interest of safety of Briggsdale students, we would greatly appreciate any help you can give us.
