WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested
with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Election Code was changed in 1991 requiring the
County Clerk and Recorder to conduct coordinated elections beginning in 1993 for
school districts, special districts, ballot issues, municipal elections conducted
as part of a coordinated election, and other authorized elections, and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Election Code provides that the County Clerk and
Recorder can be reimbursed for the cost of conducting such elections, and
WHEREAS, the Clerk and Recorder of Weld County has requested that a policy
regarding reimbursement for the costs of such elections be adopted by the Board
of County Commissioners of Weld County, and
WHEREAS, the following policy regarding the reimbursement for costs of
elections has been recommended by the Weld County Clerk and Recorder, and
Director of Finance and Administration:
ELECTION CHARGES TO AN ENTITY OTHER THAN WELD COUNTY
When an election is held for any entity other than Weld
County that is concurrent with a county or state
election, only those additional out-of-pocket costs
specifically incurred to conduct the entity's election
above and beyond the normal cost of the county or state
election, e.g. ballots, etc. will be charged to said
entity.
If an election is conducted at a time when a county or
state election is not required, the entire cost of the
election shall be borne by the entity(ies) requiring the
election on a pro-rata basis that is based upon the
number of registered voters in the respective
entity(ies) .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the above policy be, and hereby is, adopted to be
effective immediately.
