HomeMy WebLinkAbout930228.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVAL OF POLICY CONCERNING ELECTION CHARGES WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Colorado Election Code was changed in 1991 requiring the County Clerk and Recorder to conduct coordinated elections beginning in 1993 for school districts, special districts, ballot issues, municipal elections conducted as part of a coordinated election, and other authorized elections, and WHEREAS, the Colorado Election Code provides that the County Clerk and Recorder can be reimbursed for the cost of conducting such elections, and WHEREAS, the Clerk and Recorder of Weld County has requested that a policy regarding reimbursement for the costs of such elections be adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, and WHEREAS, the following policy regarding the reimbursement for costs of elections has been recommended by the Weld County Clerk and Recorder, and Director of Finance and Administration: ELECTION CHARGES TO AN ENTITY OTHER THAN WELD COUNTY When an election is held for any entity other than Weld County that is concurrent with a county or state election, only those additional out-of-pocket costs specifically incurred to conduct the entity's election above and beyond the normal cost of the county or state election, e.g. ballots, etc. will be charged to said entity. If an election is conducted at a time when a county or state election is not required, the entire cost of the election shall be borne by the entity(ies) requiring the election on a pro-rata basis that is based upon the number of registered voters in the respective entity(ies) .
