The Department's Division of Highways accepted five bids at the July 11
opening for a combined project to build Interstate 76 bridges at Tennyson St.
in the Clear Creek corridor north of the City and County of Denver. An apparently
successful bid of $1 ,591 ,525 was received from Lawrence Construction Company of
Littleton.
One project provides bridges, grading, structures, topsoil , seeding and
mulching at the junction. A second provides I-76 grading, topsoil , seeding
and mulching from a point 0.18 mile west of Tennyson St. extending 0.15 mile
east.
Resident engineer is S. W. Horton of Arvada. The combined project requires
completion within 290 calendar days following its Notice to Proceed.

MP 11-0070-12 I-70 EAST OF EL RANCHO
Crack filling for 7.3 miles of Interstate 70 in Jefferson county drew five
bidders when Division of Highways engineers opened sealed envelopes July 11 .
A project begins at the El Rancho overpass structure and extends easterly to the
S.H. 26 interchange (Exit 259) .
Colorado Seal and Stripe, Inc. of Commerce City turned in an apparently
successful bid of $31 ,797 for the project, which is scheduled for completion
within thirty working days. Rob Hirschfeld of Golden is resident engineer.

FR 014-2(10) HIGHWAYS NEAR RAYMER

Grasser Construction of Stratton submitted an apparently successful bid
of $962,858 at the July 11 Division of Highways bid opening for a combined
project to improve highways near Raymer in Weld county.
One project extends three miles east of the farm community, on S.H. 14.
It consists of grading, stabilization, structures, hot bituminous paving,
seeding and mulching. A second project, on S.H. 52, begins two miles east of
Raymer and extends six miles south. It includes pavement overlay, seeding and
mulching. The combined project requires completion within 60 workable days.
L. D. Muller of Sterling is resident engineer. Five firms turned in bids
for this combined project.

SR 0194 (2) S.H. 194 WEST OF LAS ANIMAS
Resident engineer B. B. McDonnall of Lamar will coordinate S.H. 194
improvements in Bent and Otero counties, if a contract is awarded based on a
Division of Highways July 11 bid opening.
Two bids were accepted for a project which begins 81/2 miles west of the
U.S. 50 junction near Las Animas and extends 2.9 miles west and south. Work
elements include grading, structures, stabilization, bridge rehabilitation,
hot bituminous pavement and striping.
An apparently successful bid of $346,292 came from a joint venture of
Carder, Inc. and HLM Construction Company of Swink. The time required for
completion of this project is thirty working days in accordance with the Notice
to Proceed.

IR 70-1 (99) I-70 EAST OF FRUITA
An Interstate 70 signing and guardrail project in Mesa county drew
three bidders July 11 when Division of Highways engineers opened sealed
envelopes. Haco Contractors Inc. of Wheatridge turned in an apparently
successful bid of $173,032 for the project, which begins 1 .3 miles east of
Fruita and extends 12.3 miles easterly.
Resident engineer W. R. Nelson of Grand Junction will coordinate the
project, which is scheduled to be completed within 60 workable days after it
starts.

MG 6624 (1) SIGNALIZATION IN CANON CITY
Pueblo Electric's, Inc. of Pueblo submitted an apparently successful bid
of $34,080 at the Division of Highways July 11 opening to signalize the Main St.
and 9th St. intersection in Canon City. Four firms bid the work.
The project requires completion within twenty working days. R. L. Wells
of Engineering District II in Pueblo will coordinate this project.

S.H. 121 , beginning 0.2 mile south of the intersection and extending 0.3 mile north,

consisting of hot bituminous and concrete pavement and striping, located on
S.H. 121 , beginning a tenth of a mile south of Colfax Ave. and extending 1 .029
mile south to the north side of 5th Ave. , in Jefferson county, FRU 121-1 (38) .
Aug. 1 , 10:00 a.. Widening Kipling St. in Arvada, consisting of
grading, structures, topsoil , seeding and mulching, beginning at Ridge Road and
extending 0.6 mile north to West 58th Avenue, in Jefferson county, M 1115(16) .
10: 15 a.m. , Replacing a Weld county bridge, consisting
of grading, stabilization, one bridge, not bituminous pavement and striping,
located on County Road 54, beginning 0.8 mile east of Evans over the Latham
Ditch and extending a tenth of a mile east, BRO 0003(2) . Certified, prequalified
minority bidders only.
10:30 a.m. , Improving Colorado Blvd. at E. 100th Ave. in
Thornton, consisting of grading, stabilization, structures, hot bituminous pavement,
signing, striping, curb and gutter, topsoil , seeding and mulching, located on
Colorado Blvd, beginning a tenth of a mile south of the intersection with 100th
Avenue and extending two tenths of a mile north, in Adams county, M 1601 (1 ) .
Certified, prequalified minority bidders only.
10:45 a.m. , Resurfacing and widening U.S. 160 in Alamosa,
consisting of grading, stabilization, hot bituminous pavement, curb and gutter,
lighting, structures, topsoil , seeding, and mulching, beginning at the intersection
of Richardson Ave. and extending 0.,85 mile west in Alamosa county, FR 160-2(39) .
Aug. .8: 9:30 a.m. , I-70 construction in Glenwood Canyon, eastbound
lanes, consisting of grading, structures, bridges , retaining walls, stabilization,
hot bituminous pavement, signing, striping, topsoil , seeding and mulching,
beginning 4.8 miles east of Glenwood Springs and extending 0.7 mile east, in
Garfield county, I 70-2(125) .
