RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF "STOP AHEAD" AND "STOP" SIGNS AT THE
INTERSECTION OF WELD COUNTY ROAD 3 1 /4 AND WELD COUNTY ROAD

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has received a petition requesting that
"Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs be placed at the intersection of
Weld County Road 3 1/4 and Weld County Road 16 1/2, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering has recommended that
"Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs be installed to control northbound
traffic on Weld County Road 3 1/4 at its intersection with Weld
County Road 16 1/2 , and
WHEREAS, the Board, upon the recommendation of the Weld
County Department of Engineering, has determined that said traffic
devices are necessary for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of
Engineering be, and hereby is , directed to install "Stop Ahead"
and "Stop" signs to control northbound traffic on Weld County Road
3 1/4 at its intersection with Weld County Road 16 1/2 for the
safety of the general public, and that said signs must conform to
the State manual and specifications.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 21st day of
April, A.D. , 1986 .

LOCATION: CR 31/4 at CR 161/2
COMPLAINT: Possibility of placing a "Stop" sign at this intersection? Flatiron has a
gravel pit here and uses the interesection like a 4-way intersection. They travel very
fast and go straight into their pit without slowing or stopping to see if other traffic
is coming. Very dangerous situation. There is a "Stop" sign for Flatiron as they
come out of their pit; however, they do not stop.

As residents/and/or neighbors of those frequently traveling Weld County Road 161/2
and Weld County Road 33/4, we would like to express our desire to the Commissioners
that we would be in favor of having stop signs and adequate warning signs at that
intersection. It is our hopes that this will encourage the oil and gravel trucks
entering the Flatiron gravel pit to approach and leave this property at safer speeds.
