Li I-70 GLENWOOD CANYON CONSTRUCTION
SUSPENDED FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND
A holiday work schedule calls for regular traffic operations at the
Glenwood Canyon Interstate 70 construction zones from Friday noon, August 30
through midnight Monday, September 2. Work is to resume on Tuesday after Labor
Day.
Since April 22, motorists traveling U.S. 6 through Glenwood Canyon
have encountered one lane escort car operations. In recent weeks the one way
plan has been in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and
7 a.m. to noon Fridays.

BRS 0037(1 ) BRIDGE ON S.H. 37, WELD COUNTY
The Department's Division of Highways accepted two bids at the August
22 opening for a bridge rehabilitation project on S.H. 37 in Weld county. The
Set-Aside project, located 1 .4 miles north of Kersey, consists of hot bituminous
pavement, deck rehabilitation and guardrail for a bridge crossing the South Platte
River. Only certified, prequalified minority business enterprises were allowed to
submit bids.
Dumar Contractors of Greeley turned in an apparently successful bid of
$349,172 for the project, which requires completion within 80 working days
following its Notice to Proceed. Resident engineer is L. G. Duncan of Greeley.

C 07-0157-05 U.S. 36 AT S.H. 157 IN BOULDER
Providing signing and guardrail in Boulder near the Denver-Boulder
Turnpike interchange with the Foothills Parkway drew four bidders August 22 when
Division of Highways engineers opened sealed envelopes. An apparently successful
bid of $76,294 was received from Flatiron Paving of Boulder.
Resident engineer is H. L. Toland, Boulder. The project is scheduled for
completion within twenty workable days after it starts.

MP 01-0095-18 CHECK DAM IN SHERIDAN
Pebble Haulers, Inc. of Colorado Springs turned in an apparently successful
bid of $86,646 at the Division of Highways August 22 opening to build a check dam
on Bear Creek near Sheridan.
The project is located near Sheridan Blvd. (S.H. 95) and Hampden Ave.
1U.S. 285) south of the Bear Valley shopping center in Denver. It consists of
grouted rubble slope and ditch paving, shotcrete, riprap and structures. Five
firms bid the project, which calls for completion within 25 workable days. John
Ward of Englewood is resident engineer.

MG 5000(7) PAVEMENT MARKING IN FORT COLLINS
Resident engineer Lewis Garton of Loveland will coordinate a project
for striping various streets and roads in Fort Collins, if contract award follows
bidding activity which occurred at the Division of Highways headquarters August 22.
Four firms turned in offers for the project, which is scheduled for
completion within thirty workable days after its start. D. T. Construction, Inc.
of Rifle submitted an apparently successful bid of $114,250.

BRO 0044(2) BRIDGE IN VAIL
Replacing a bridge on Vail Valley Drive over Gore Creek in Vail drew
eight bidders August 22 when Division of Highways engineers opened sealed
envelopes. An apparently successful bid of $136,374 was received from Sewell
Construction of Vail .
Scheduled for completion within 60 workable days the project includes
stabilization, structures, hot bituminous pavement, topsoil , seeding and
mulching. M. J. Smith of Eagle is resident engineer.
