RE: APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, during the month of June , 1982 , a workman' s
compensation claim was filed against Weld County by Robert John
Stroman, and
WHEREAS, during the month of May, 1984 , a workman' s
compensation claim was filed against Weld County by Richard Smock,
and
WHEREAS, Gallagher Bassett Insurance Services , Inc. , acts as
agent for the handling of Weld County' s insurance claims , and
WHEREAS , Gallagher Bassett Insurance Services , Inc. , retained
Robert L. McGahey, Jr. , of Anderson, Campbell and Laugesen, P.C. ,
3464 South Willow Street, Denver, Colorado 80231 , to represent
the interests of Weld County in the above workman' s compensation
claims , and
WHEREAS, Robert L. McGahey, Jr. , is experienced in workman' s
compensation matters , and
WHEREAS, the attorney retained in these cases , Robert L.
McGahey, Jr. , bills for services at the rate of $95 . 00 an hour,
and
WHEREAS, after consultation with the office of the County
Attorney, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Weld
deems it advisable to confirm, ratify, and approve the appointment
of Robert L. McGahey, Jr. , of Anderson, Campbell and Laugesen,
P.C. , to represent Weld County in these workman' s compensation
cases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Weld, State of Colorado, that
pursuant to Section 5-4 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter,
Robert L. McGahey, Jr. , of the law firm of Anderson, Campbell and
Laugesen, P.C. , be, and hereby is, appointed special counsel, to
be compensated at the rate of $95. 00 per hour, to represent the
interests of Weld County in the workman' s compensation claim filed
by Robert John Stroman, nunc pro tunc June, 1982 .

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Robert L. McGahey, Jr. be
appointed special counsel, to be compensated at the rate of $95 . 00
per hour, to represent the interests of Weld County in the
workman' s compensation claim filed by Richard Smock, nunc pro tunc
May, 1984 .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chairman be, and
hereby is , authorized to sign Contracts for Legal Services between
Weld County and Robert L. McGahey, Jr. concerning the
aforementioned cases.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, upon motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 28th day of
July, A.D. , 1986 .

CONTRACT FOR LEGAL SERVICES
WHEREAS, Robert John Stroman, Claimant, filed a
workman's compensation claim against Weld County in the month of
June, 1982 , Case No. WC 3-515-849, consolidated with the
following cases: WC 3-578-195, WC 3-712-169, WC 3-714-499, WC
3-717-323, and SF# C83-60935, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners desires to
employ special counsel to assist in the defense of this action,
and
WHEREAS, Section 5-4 of the Weld County Home Rule
Charter allows the Board to appoint special counsel .
NOW, THEREFORE, it is agreed by and between the Board of
County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, and Robert L.
McGahey, Jr. , of Anderson, Campbell and Laugesen, P.C. , 3464
South Willow Street, Denver, Colorado 80231, that said Robert L.
McGahey, Jr. , will represent Weld County through all legal
proceedings in said Case No. WC 3-578-195 , consolidated with the
following cases: WC 3-578-195, WC 3-712-169, WC 3-714-499, WC
3-717-323 , and SF# C83-60935, now pending before the Colorado
Division of Labor, Workman' s Compensation Section. Weld County
agrees to reimburse special counsel at the hourly rate of $95. 00
an hour together with all costs expended and shall provide for
such reimbursement within thirty (30) days after special counsel
has submitted a statement for services.
