IR 70-1(102) I-70 FRONTAGE ROAD EAST OF NEW CASTLE
The Department's Division of Highways accepted eight bids at the March
21 opening for an Interstate 70, Colorado River bank stabilization project in
Garfield county. The project, which includes riprap and guardrail, is located on
the I-70 frontage road beginning about seven miles east of New Castle and
extending 0.13 mile east.
The Divide Corporation of Basalt submitted an apparently successful bid
of $45,255 on the project, which requires completion within twenty workable
days following its Notice to Proceed.
Edward J. Hanson of Glenwood Springs is resident engineer.

C 55-0550-08 U.S. 550 SOUTH OF SILVERTON
Burnett Construction Co. of Durango turned in an apparently successful
bid of $1,533,455 at the Division of Highways March 21 opening to resurface
24.6 miles of U.S. 550 in San Juan county. The project attracted six bidders.
It consists of hot bituminous pavement overlay and guardrail, and extends
northerly toward Molas Divide from Cascade Creek a mile and a half north of the
San Juan/La Plata county line.
Resident engineer K. A. Durfee of Durango will coordinate the project,
which is scheduled to be completed within fifty working days after it starts.

M 6605-1 S. FOURTH ST. IN CANON CITY
Resident engineer O. E. Olson of Lamar will coordinate a street improve-
ment project for South Fourth St. in Canon City, following contract award
related to a March 21 bid opening by the Division of Highways. The project is
located between Highland Ave. and Myrtle Lane at the crossing of South Ditch.
It includes precast concrete box culvert, hot bituminous paving, guardrail,
curb and gutter, and sidewalk.
An apparently successful bid of $50,207 was submitted by Kirkland Trench-
ing & Excavating of Rye. Three firms bid the project, which requires completion
within twenty workable days.

Add, April 11: 10:00 a.m. , Paving 6.63 miles of Centennial Parkway
(the Denver area southwest circumferential route) , three combined projects
in Douglas county. Project No. IXFU 470-1(17)consists of grading, stabilization,
structures, concrete and hot bituminous pavement, signing, striping, signalization,
guardrail, topsoil, seeding, and mulching on C-470 beginning half a mile
west of Broadway and extending 6.63 miles east. Project No. I 25-2(156) begins
0.2 mile east of Yosemite and extends 0.43 mile east to Interstate 25; it consists
of grading, stabilization, concrete and hot bituminous paving, guardrail, topsoil,
seeding and mulching. Project No. IXFU 470-1(7) , Phase B, consists of grading,
stabilization and concrete pavement at the Broadway interchange ramps.
10:30 a.m. , Resurfacing Federal Blvd. in Denver,
consisting of hot bituminous pavement patching and plant mixed seal coat,
located on S.H. 88 (Federal Blvd. ) beginning at Yale Ave. and extending 0.95 mile
