MR 1214 (5) EAST ILIFF AVENUE IN ARAPAHOE COUNTY The Department's Division of Highways accepted three bids at the August 15 opening for an outfall sewer project on East Iliff Ave. between Denver and Aurora. A Set-Aside project providing storm sewer, structures, not bituminous pavement, curb and gutter and striping begins at Cherry Creek and extends eight tenths of a mile east to Dayton Street. Only certified prequalified minority business enterprises were allowed to bid. Loveland Excavating Co. of Loveland turned in an apparently successful bid of $920,749 for the project, which calls for completion within 80 working days following its Notice to Proceed. Resident engineer is B. T. Paiz of Aurora. O OO SR 0094 (21 ) S.H . 94 EAST OF COLORADO SPRINGS Improving 1 .7 miles of S.H. 94 east of Colorado Springs drew four bidders at the Division of Highways August 15 opening. The project consists of grading, structures, stabilization, hot bituminous pavement, concrete box culvert, guardrail , topsoil , seeding, mulching and striping. It begins 11 .1 miles east of the U.S. 24 junction and extends east. An apparently successful bid of $704,458 was received from Schmidt-Tiago Construction Co. of Colorado Springs. Resident engineer is V. D. Anders of Colorado Springs, the project requires completion within 100 workable days after it starts. O OO MP 26-0024-04 U.S. 24 EAST OF STRATTON Sterling Paving Co. of Ft. Collins turned in an apparently successful bid of $707,075 at the Division of Highways August 15 opening to resurface 9.84 miles of U.S. 24 in Kit Carson county. A hot bituminous pavement overlay and striping project begins in the town of Stratton and extends east. Four firms bid the work, which is scheduled to be completed within thirty workable days after the contractor is given the Notice to Proceed. John W. Goetzcke of Limon is resident engineer. O OO (over) LMISPORTATION. 851275 o d n,z9 8/.2'/Ss Highway News Page 2 Department of Highways Aug. 15, 1985 MP 02-0025-22 INTERSTATE 25 IN PUEBLO COUNTY A project to resurface 4.43 miles of Interstate 25 in Pueblo county drew four bidders August 15 when Division of Highways engineers opened sealed envelopes. An apparently successful bid of $396,510 was received from Tony J. Beltramo & Sons, Inc. of Pueblo. The hot bituminous pavement overlay and striping project begins at milepost 74.39 near the Colorado City interchange and extends northerly. It calls for completion within twenty working days. Resident engineer is W. M. Rizley of Glenwood Springs. . O 00 HES 0005 (11 ) U.S. 50 IN CHAFFEE AND GUNNISON COUNTIES Resident engineer J. T. Ungefug of Alamosa will coordinate a Set-Aside signing project on U.S . 50 on the east side of Monarch Pass, if contract award follows bidding held August 15 by Division of Highways engineers. Three bids were accepted for a project which begins 1 .8 miles east of Sargents and extends 16.2 miles easterly. Only certified, prequalified minority firms were allowed to turn in offers. C & L. Flagging, Inc. of Pueblo submitted an apparently successful bid of $34,078 for the project, which requires completion within 25 workable days after the Notice to Proceed. O 00 MP 11-0006-11 U.S. 6 WEST OF LAKEWOOD Resurfacing West Sixth Avenue in Jefferson county drew four bidders at the Division of Highways August 15 opening. A project for planing, hot bituminous pavement overlay and striping begins at Colfax Ave. (U.S. 40) and extends 1 .8 miles east to Deframe Street. western Paving Construction of Denver turned in an apparently successful bid of $318,692 for the project, which is scheduled for completion within twenty workable days. IN DENVER Resident engineer Steve Horton of Denver will coordinate a hot bituminous pavement overlay and striping project for Federal Blvd. in Denver, if contract award follows bidding activity seen August 15 at the Division of Highways headquarters. Western Paving Construction Co. of Denver submitted an apparently successful bid of $139,965 for work which begins at 38th Ave. and extends a mile north to Interstate 70 on U.S. 287. The project, requiring completion within fifteen working days , drew bids from six firms . 000 C 03-0060-10 S.N. 30 IN WELD COUNTY Frontier Materials , Inc. of Longmont turned in an apparently successful bid of $109,138 at the Division of Highways August 15 opening to resurface a segment of S.H. 50 in Weld county. Four firms submitted bids for a hot bituminous pavement overlay project which begins about three miles west of Peckham and extends 3.6 miles south to U.S. 85. The project, requiring completion within ten working days, will be coordinated by resident engineer L. V. (over) Page 4 Highway News Department of Highways BIDS TO BE OPENED August 15, 1985 Aug. 29: ADD, 10:15 a.m. , Resurfacing a segment of the U.S. 50 Bypass in Pueblo east of Interstate 25, consisting of hot bituminous pavement overlay, beginning at Milepost 315.98 and extending to Milepost 318.35, a distance of 2.37 miles , in Pueblo county, MP 02-0050-19. ADD, 10:30 a.m. , Resurfacing U.S. 24 east of Peyton, consisting of hot bituminous pavement overlay, beginning at Milepost 329.81 and extending east to Milepost 335.11 , a distance of 5.3 miles, in El Paso county, MP 04-0024-24. Sept. b: 9:30 a.m. , Constructing Colorado's first urban interchange at Evans Ave. and South Santa Fe Drive in Denver, three combined projects. The first consists of grading, structures, hot bituminous and concrete pavement, retaining walls, signing, striping, lighting, signalization, guardrail , topsoil , seeding, mulching and curb and gutter, located on U.S. 85, beginning at the intersection of South Santa Fe Drive and Harvard Ave. in Denver and extending seven tenths of a mile north; firms may bid a double T retaining wall alternate or a reinforced earth wall alternate. The second consists of grading, structures , hot bituminous and concrete pavement, signing, striping, lighting, signalization, guardrail , topsoil , seeding, mulching and curb and gutter, located on U.S. 85, beginning north of the intersection of South Santa Fe Drive and Jewell Ave. in Denver and extending six tenths of a mile north. The third involves grading and structures, located on U.S. 85, beginning at the intersection of Evans and South Santa Fe Drive in Denver and extending 0.3 mile west, IXFU 085-2(26) , FCU 085-2(25) and CC 01-0085-01 . 10:00 a.m. , U.S. 50 bridge deck replacement in Pueblo county, including hot bituminous pavement and striping, beginning 6.8 miles east of the intersection with S.H. 231 and extending a tenth of a mile east, BRF 050-3(31 ) .
