To It May Concern:
It has come to our attention that a small group of our citizens
is presently planning to present the Weld County Commissioners with a
petition to have the town of Lochbuie excluded from the Hudson Fire
District.
On June 25, 1985 the Lochbuie Town Council had a recall election
which was defeated by a two to one margin. Also we had a non-binding
referandum on whether the people in the town of Lochbuie wanted the
town board to back the new fire district or stay in the Hudson Fire
District.
The outcome was very clear that the town wanted to stay in the
Hudson Fire District. The vote was 139 against the new fire district
to 40 for the new fire districts
This newly form group is bound and determined to get the new fire
district in whether the people of the town wants them or not, So do)
to the safety of the town I as one of the town board members would
appreciate hearing from the Weld County Commissioners when the petition
for exclusion comes in.
The town board will never approve a municipal exclusion as the town
is just like the newly formed group in the fact as we do not have the
money to finance such a venture as our own fire district.
At this time I would like the commissioners to take time and read
the State Statutes on forming a New fire district and you will see that
there is no reasonable way that it can be accomplished.
I which to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I
hope you will consider the way the towns people voted against the new
district.
