RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF "STOP AHEAD" AND "STOP" SIGNS ON WELD
COUNTY ROAD 66 AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH WELD COUNTY ROAD 61
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has received a request from the Platte
Valley Schools concerning the installation of "Stop" signs at the
intersection of Weld County Roads 66 and 61 , and
WHEREAS, said request was referred to the Weld County
Engineering Department for recommendation, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Engineering Department recommended
that "Stop Ahead" and "Stop" signs be installed on Weld County
Road 66 at its intersection with Weld County Road 61 , and
WHEREAS , upon the recommendation of the County Engineer, the
Board deems it advisable to install said traffic control devices
at said intersection, as indicated on the diagram attached hereto
and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of
Engineering Services be , and hereby is , directed to install "Stop
Ahead" and "Stop" signs to control traffic on Weld County Road 66
at its intersection with Weld County Road 61 . Said traffic
control devices , which are for the safety of the general public,
must conform to the State manual and specifications.

It has been brought to our attention by Mr. Berry with the Kersey
School District, that stop signs are needed at the intersection
of WCR 61 and WCR 66. Upon visual inspection of this
intersection it is found that traffic going north and south
cannot see traffic coming from the west because of homes on both
the northwest corner and southwest corner of the intersection.
Because WCR 66 only goes one mile west after the intersection it
is my recommendation that stop signs be placed to stop traffic
going east and west on WCR 66. (See attached diagram. )
