I 70-2 (119) I-70 IN GLENWOOD CANYON
The Department's Division of Highways accepted three bids at the
January 17 opening for a project at the Grizzly Creek, Interstate 70 inter-
change in Glenwood Canyon. Flatiron Structures Company of Longmont sub-
mitted an apparently successful bid of $5,784,025 on the project, which
requires completion within 180 working days following the Notice. to Proceed.
The project begins three miles east of Glenwood Springs and extends
0.3 mile easterly. It includes grading, structures, retaining walls,
stabilization, paving, signing, striping, topsoil, seeding and mulching.
Resident engineer is R. L. Orton of Glenwood Springs.

FR 287-1(16) & BRF 287-1 (15) U.S. 287 SOUTH OF SPRINGFIELD
A combined project to replace a bridge and improve U.S. 287 south of
Springfield drew five bidders at the Division of Highways January 17 opening.
One project will replace the bridge over Cat Creek, 0. 3 mile south of
the community. Its companion project calls for improvements extending a
mile south of Springfield; included are grading, stabilization, structures,
paving, striping, topsoil, seeding and mulching.
An apparently successful bid of $1,718,610 was received from a joint
venture of Carder, Inc. and HLM Construction Co. , Inc. of Swink. B. L. McDonnall
of Lamar is resident engineer. The combined project requires completion
within 180 workable days.

IR 70-1 (103) SIGNING FOR I-70's LOMA PORT OF ENTRY
Kiewit Western Company of Littleton turned in an apparently successful
bid of $174,971 at the Division of Highways January 17 opening to sign
the Loma Port of Entry on Interstate 70 in Mesa county. Nine firms tendered
offers on the project, which extends 13.1 miles westerly from the 23 Road
overpass.
Scheduled for completion within thirty working days after its start,
the project will be coordinated by resident engineer Bill Nelson of Grand
Junction.

Feb. 7: 9:30 a.m. , Bridge replacement in Boulder, consisting of
grading, structures, one bridge, hot bituminous pavement, concrete pavement and
lighting, located on 17th Street over Boulder Creek, BRM 0007 (2) .
9:45 a.m. , Improvements in Boulder, consisting of grading,
structures, concrete box culvert, stabilization, hot bituminous pavement, topsoil,
seeding and mulching, located at two sites within the city. The Arapahoe Ave.
location is just east of 47th St. The Pearl St. location is just north of Learl St.
at the future 47th St. Parkway, in Boulder county, FCU 157-1(9) .
10:00 a.m. , Intersection improvement south of Denver, con-
sisting of grading, structures, hot bituminous pavement, signing, striping,
signalization, topsoil, seeding and mulching, located on County Line Road
beginning 0.3 mile west of S. Holly St. , extending half a mile east, in Arapahoe
and Douglas counties, IXMU 1022 (1) . Certified, prequalified minority bidders
only.
Feb. 14: 10:30 a.m. , 1-70 west of Bair Ranch in Glenwood Canyon,
consisting of grading, stabilization, hot bituminous pavement, striping, topsoil,
seeding, and mulching, beginning 9.5 miles east of Glenwood Springs and extend-
ing 2.1 miles easterly (gross length = 2.174 miles) , in Garfield county,
