RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING DEMOLITON OF DANGEROUS BUILDING -
GILL LION'S CLUB
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board was advised by the Department of Planning
Services that a dangerous building existed on property owned by
the Gill Lion' s Club, said property being described as Lots 1
through 3 , Block 24, Town of Gill, and
WHEREAS, the Gill Lion' s Club was notified of said dangerous
building and ordered to demolish same, and
WHEREAS, the Gill Lion' s Club was also notified that the
Board would consider soliciting bids from private contractors for
removing the dangerous building and setting a hearing date to
consider recovering the cost of said demolition work, and
WHEREAS, at the Board meeting of August 16 , 1989, the Board
was advised by the Department of Planning Services that the Gill
Lion' s Club had removed the dangerous building from its property,
and is now in compliance, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it appropriate that no action is
necessary concerning the demolition of a dangerous building on the
above described property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that no action is
necessary concerning the demolition of a dangerous building which
was located on the hereinabove described property.

and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 16th day of

CASE SUMMARY
7-28-88 Letter sent with citation of dangerous building under the Uniform
Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. Property owner did
not appeal the order to demolish building.
8-2-88 Mr. Joe Kutcher in office to indicate the Lion's Club does not
have the financial resources to demolish structure.
8-15-88 Mr. Joe Kutcher in office to request extension of time. Abatement
procedure explained to Mr. Kutcher. Extension may be granted by
only Board of County Commissioners.
8-15-88 Mr. Glen Hanson, Platte Valley School District, inquired about
abatement procedure. He indicated he would visit with Mr.
Kutcher.
10-6-88 Notice of hearing sent to Gill Loin' s Club, Joe Kutcher, and
School District RE-7.
The Department of Planning Services' staff recommends that:
1. The Board authorize the demolition work to remove the dangerous
building located on the property.
2. The Board solicit bids from private contractors for removing the
dangerous building.
3. The Board set February 1 , 1969, as the hearing date to consider
recovering the cost of the demolition work by special assessment
or as a personal obligation of the property owner. On February 1 ,
1989, an itemized account of the expenses incurred by Weld County
in the demolition and clean up of the property will be presented.

Re: Performance of demolition work on a parcel of land described as Lots 1
through 3, Block 24, Gill, located at 31252 Fifth Street, Weld County,
Colorado.
Dear Sirs:
The Weld County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to consider whether to
authorize demolition work by the County or private contractor on your
property on October 19, 1988, starting at 9:00 a.m. This meeting will be
held in the Board of County Commissioner's Hearing Room, First Floor, Weld
County Centennial Building, 915 Tenth Street, Greeley, Colorado. The Board
will also set a hearing date to consider recovering the cost of demolition
by special assessment or as a personal obligation of the property owner.
Your presence, or your representative's presence, would be helpful to the
Board of County Commissioners in case they have any questions in considering
this matter. This office is ready to be of any assistance in clarifying or
answering questions concerning this matter, Please call or write.

To Whom it May Concern:
The Lion's Club of Gill, Co. have boarded up all,or enclosed all openings
on the first floor of old school building, located at 31252 5th St in the town
of Gill, on block 24, lots 1,2 and 3. Work was completed on Sat.,Oct. 22, 1988.
They will build a fence 20 feet to 30 feet around the building when the
demolition starts in December. This fence will be of the snow fencing type used
in construction, to secure the work site.
