The brick and stone school, built in 1896, is in the right-of-way of the proposed 47th Street Parkway in Boulder. (An item in the December 6 issue of Highway News helped promote the school building's sale. ) Fleming bid $5,050 through a sealed bid process; a new location has not yet been announced for the building but presumably it will be moved next spring or summer. Certified, prequalified minority bidders only. O 0 0 IR 70-1 (100) 1-70 WEST Of FRUITA The Departments Division of Highways accepted six bids at the January 31 opening for a Set-Aside project to protect Interstate 70 west of Fruita, Bidding was open only to certified, prequalified minority business firms, Work involves Colo- rado River channel stabilization and 1-70 guardrail; the project begins west of Fruita at milepost 15.98 and extends 2,7 miles southeast to milepost 18.69. An apparently successful bid of $337,815 was received from M. G. Concrete, Inc. of Pueblo. Resident engineer is W. R. Nelson of Grand Junction; the time required for completion of this project is thirty workable days following the Notice to Proceed. O 0 O MP 45-0096-21 S.H. 96 WEST OF TOWNER A&S Construction Co. of Canon City submitted an apparently successful bid of $317,921 at the Division of Highways January 31 opening to provide hot bituminous pavement overlay for 4.8 miles of S.H. 96 west of Towner in Kiowa county. Two firms turned in offers. The project, coordinated by resident engineer B. B. McDonnall of Lamar, is scheduled for completion within 25 working days. O O 0 MP 04-0083-35 ACADEMY BLVD. IN COLORADO SPRINGS Providing pavement overlay for 1.6 miles of S.H. 83 in Colorado Springs drew three bidders at the Division of Highways January 31 opening. The resurfacing project begins 0.6 mile north of the Hancock Expressway interchange and extends north to Airport Road. An apparently successful bid of $304,150 was received from Broderick & Gibbons, Inc. of Pueblo. Resident engineer is V. D. Anders of Colorado Springs; the project requires completion within thirty workable days. O O O Highway News Page 3 Department of Highways Jan. 31, 1985 IR 70-2 (130) I-70 EAST OF GYPSUM Resident engineer M. J. Smith of Eagle will coordinate a slide repair and bank stabilization project along Interstate 70 in Eagle county, following bidding activity January 31 at the Division of Highways headquarters in Denver. The channel stabilization will occur along the Eagle River, beginning 2.1 miles east of Gypsum and extending 0.1 mile east. The project is scheduled for completion within thirty working days following its Notice to Proceed. An apparently successful bid of $171,738 was received from Richmond Con- struction Co. of Grand Junction; 11 firms turned in offers. 0 0 0 BRS 0394 (1) S.H. 394 SOUTH OF CRAIG Replacing the S.H. 394 bridge over the Yampa River south of Craig drew eight bidders at the Division of Highways January 31 opening. Duckels Construction, Inc. of Steamboat Springs turned in an apparently successful bid of $928,723 on the project, which requires completion within 130 workable days. Work includes grading, structures, the bridge, stabilization, paving, top- soil, seeding and mulching. D. C. Pyle of Craig is resident engineer. * * * Hello
