The Department's Division of Highways accepted three bids at the
June 13 opening for a project to reconstruct the Wadsworth Blvd. , West Jewell
Ave. intersection in Lakewood. Bituminous Roadways of Colorado, of Englewood,
turned in an apparently successful bid of $ 1,332,812.
The work begins 0.2 mile south of the S.H. 121 junction and extends
0.3 mile north. Elements include grading, stabilization, structures, extending
a concrete box culvert, hot bituminous and concrete paving, signing, striping,
lighting, signalization, seeding and mulching.
R. L. McKenzie of Golden is resident engineer. The project requires
completion within 180 working days following its Notice to Proceed.

I-IR 70-2(129) I-70 EAST OF VAIL
Resurfacing Interstate 70 east of Vail drew three bidders at the
Division of Highways June 13 opening. A project which begins 9.1 miles east of
the mountain community and extends 5.1 miles easterly consists of hot bituminous
paving, plant mixed seal coat, structures, striping, topsoil , seeding and mulching.
An apparently successful bid of $860,207 was received from Kiewit
Western Company of Littleton. The project is scheduled for completion within
seventy workable days, coordinated by resident engineer Wes Goff of Frisco.

BRS 0012(22) S.H. 12 AT LA VETA
Replacing a State Highway 12 bridge at La Veta with a concrete box culvert
drew five bidders at the Division of Highways June 13 opening. (This project was
re-advertised May 23; you may have read the results of a bid opening in the May 9
Highway News on this project as a Set-Aside proposal restricted to minority
bidders, but no contract was awarded. )
Walsenburg Sand & Gravel Company of Walsenburg turned in an apparently
successful bid of $255,443 June 13; the project calls for completion within 50
working days. The project, which begins at the southern boundary of the town and
extends 0.2 mile westerly, includes grading , structures, the concrete box culvert,
hot bituminous paving, seeding, oulching, and striping.
Project engineer is 0.E. Olson of Pueblo.

SR 0014(19) S.H. 14 SOUTHEAST OF WALDEN
Kiewit Western Company of Littleton submitted an apparently successful
bid of $596,153 at the Division of Highways June 13 opening to resurface S.H. 14
southeast of Walden. Five firms turned in offers for a project which begins 3.7
miles southeast of the town and extends nine miles southeasterly.
Elements include grading , stabilization, structures, hot bituminous
pavement overlay, topsoil , seeding and mulching, and are scheduled for completion
within 60 workable days following the Notice to Proceed.

IR 25-c(182) I-25 NIGHTTIME RESURFACING IN DENVER

Resident engineer Joe Seitz of Denver will coordinate nighttime pave-
ioent overlay and striping on Denver's Valley Highway, following contract award
for a project whose bids were opened June 13 at the Division of Highways head-
quarters.
Two segments of Interstate 25 will be resurfaced; one 3.8-mile segment
extends from the 23rd Ave. interchange south to Broadway, and a second extends
from Franklin St. 0.3 mile southerly to University Blvd.
The combined project is one of five nighttime construction projects
scheduled this summer for the Denver area.
Six firms turned in offers. An apparently successful bid of
$1 ,318,706 was received from Siegrist Construction Company of Denver. The project
requires completion within fifty working days .

MP 12-0007-12 S.H. 7 WEST OF BRIGHTON
A cover coat material (chip seal ) and striping project for East
160th Ave. in Adams county drew five bidders at the Division of Highways June 13
opening. GMCO Corporation of Glenwood Springs turned in an apparently successful
bid of $99,928.
The S.H. 7 project extends 8.19 miles, from milepost 68.31 east of
Interstate 25 to milepost 76.5 west of the South Platte River. Resident engineer
Steve Horton of Arvada will coordinate the project, which requires completion
within twenty working days.

July 3: 9:15 a.m. , Resurfacing highways in Delta county, consisting of hot
bituminous pavement overlay, guardrail and striping, located on S.H. 92, beginning
at the intersection of S.H. 133 in Hotchkiss and extending 10.9 miles southerly
through Crawford; also located on S.H. 133, beginning east of the intersection of
S.H. 187 near Paonia and extending 2-1/2 miles east, combined projects SR 0092(9)
and SR 0133(15) .
9:30 a.m. , Improving Interstate 70 east of Limon, consisting of hot
bituminous pavement, striping, seeding and mulching, beginning 2.1 miles east of
the city (MP 357.8) and extending 4.3 miles east; also consisting of grading, not
bituminous pavement and lighting, same location, all situated in Elbert and Lincoln
counties, I 70-5(37) and IR 70-5(42), as combined.
9:45 a.m. , Resurfacing highways near Longmont, consisting of hot
bituminous pavement overlay, located on S.H. 52, beginning 0.2 mile east of the
junction of U.S. 287 and extending 2.9 miles east, in Boulder and Weld counties;
also located on S.H. 66, beginning 3.9 miles east of the junction of U.S. 287 and
extending 2-1/2 miles east, in Weld county, combined projects, MP 07-0052-01 and
MP 03-0066-03.
10:00 a.m. , Bridge repair in Pueblo, consisting of deck rehabilitation,
hot bituminous pavement and striping, located on U.S. 50, beginning approximately
0.07 mile east of I-25 and extending 0.06 mile east, in Pueblo county, BRF 050-3(29) .
10:15 a.m. , Resurfacing 5th Street in Grand Junction, consisting of
rotomilling, hot bituminous pavement overlay and striping, located on U.S. 50,
beginning at Pitkin Ave. and extending 0.6 mile south, in Mesa county, C 08-0050-09.
10:30 a.m. , Replacing a bridge north of Sterling, consisting of
grading, aggregate base course and one bridge, located on County Road 40, approximately
0.4 mile west of the intersection with North Seventh Avenue, in Logan county,
DRO 0013(1) .
10:45 a.m. , Improving U.S. 160 west of Durango, consisting of guard-
rail and signing, 10.2 miles west of Durango and extending 4.8 miles easterly, in
