RE: APPROVE SUBMITTING REQUEST TO DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR
MONIES TO ASSIST IN GRASSHOPPER CONTROL AND AUTHORIZE
CHAIRMAN TO SIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Agriculture will enter into
agreements with those counties requesting State assistance, for
grasshopper control, to cover two-thirds (2/3) of total cost of
pesticides and application not to exceed a cost of three dollars
($3 .00) per acre as the State' s share of roadside spraying, and
WHEREAS, the Extension Service has informed the Board of
County Commissioners that Weld County will suffer from the
grasshoppers in Weld County this year, and
WHEREAS, because of the severity of grasshoppers in Weld
County, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to
submit a request to the State Department of Agriculture requesting
a total of $10 ,000 for assistance in grasshopper control, and
WHEREAS, a copy of said request for said monies is attached
hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the request to the
State Department of Agriculture, in the total amount of $10 ,000 ,
be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chairman be, and
hereby is , authorized to sign said request.

RE: State Participation in County
Roadside Grasshopper Spraying
Program
Dear Sir:
The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
would like to request State assistance to cover two-thirds (2/3)
of the total cost of pesticides and application not to exceed a
cost of $3 .00 per acre as the State' s share of roadside spraying,
with a total not to exceed $10 ,000 .
Due to the severity of the grasshopper population in Weld
County, we would like to request the maximum total of $10 ,000 in
State cost share money. The County's share will be as follows:
Total Acres - Approximately 4200
Spray Equipment and Trucks $ 5 ,400 . 00
Labor 2 ,100 .00
Total County Share 7 ,500 .00
State Share (Insecticide) 10 ,000 .00
Total Requested $10 ,000 .00
