RE: ADOPTING POLICY REGARDING OFFICIAL RECOGNITION AND
PROCLAMATION OF SPECIAL EVENTS , CAUSES, AND PERIODS OF
CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners receives
numerous requests for recognition and proclamation of special
events, causes, and periods of celebration for various causes
and purposes , and
WHEREAS, many of the requests are for recognition and
proclamation of special events, causes , and periods of
celebration not specifically and directly affecting Weld County
government , and
WHEREAS , it is not the function , duty, or responsibility of
a body such as a Board of County Commissioners to endorse or
recognize events, causes , or periods of celebration unrelated to
Weld County government, and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to adopt a policy regarding
official recognition and proclamation of special events , causes ,
and periods of celebration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, hereby adopts the policy
that they will only issue special proclamations and Resolutions
for recognition of events, causes, and periods of celebration
for subjects specifically and directly affecting Weld County
government.

RE: ADOPTION OF POLICY - SPECIAL EVENTS
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 15th day of
September, A.D. , 1986 .
