Dear County Commissioner:
I am writing about a concern I have as a property owner in Eaton.
(835 Collins Avenue is outside of the Town of Eaton city limits).
On December 10, without notice, the county sign crew put up a large
"Dead End" sign on the corner of our yard.
Our home is a historic home that we have spent a great deal of
money and time preserving. We take alot of pride in our property
and are upset by this "eye sore" in our yard.
On December 11th. I called to speak to the sign crew, and had to
leave a message to call me back. I recieved no call back by December
16th, so I called again on that date. On December 16th Mark Street
spoke with me on the phone and said he would come out to my property
and look at the sign. He did promptly come out to our property and
suggested that I write this letter.
It is my contention that if citizens have the right to have a
sign put up, that we also have the right to have it removed. This
cul-de-sac is not heavily travelled and I question the need for the
sign; or it's effectiveness.
I know now that drivers that do notice the sign turn in front of
our house anyway and additionally we are left with this unsightly
sign in our yard.
Please consider some action to remove the sign, as we are con-
cerned about our property and it' s historic beauty and value.
