HomeMy WebLinkAbout861200.tiff RESOLUTION RE: ACCEPT RESULT OF BALLOTS CONCERNING ADDITION TO LIST OF CERTAIN PESTS TO BE CONTROLLED WITHIN THE SOUTHEAST WELD PEST CONTROL DISTRICT WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, on March 24, 1986 , pursuant to Section 35-5-104 (8) , CRS, the Board approved the request to include Musk Thistle (Carduus nutans) , Bull Thistle (Cirsium vulgare) , and Whitetop (Cardaria draba) on the list of pests to be controlled within the Southeast Weld Pest Control District, and directed that ballots be prepared and mailed for a vote of landowners within said District, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Extension Service prepared ballots which were mailed to landowners and lessees, as defined in Section 35-5-101, CRS, located within the District to determine whether said pests should be added to the list, and WHEREAS, eighty-one of the ballots were returned to the Clerk to the Board, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Assessor, the Weld County Treasurer, and Ron Broda, Weld County Pest Inspector, counted the ballots and found that more than: fifty-one percent (51%) of the landowners who mailed in their ballots were in favor of the addition of the hereinabove mentioned pests to the list of pests to be controlled with the District, with sixty-seven (67) of the landowners being in favor and fourteen (14) landowners being opposed, and WHEREAS, the Board believes it to be in the best interests of the County to accept the result of the ballots and add the above mentioned pests to the list in the Southeast Weld Pest Control District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that pursuant to Section 35-5-104 (8) , CRS, the Board does hereby accept the result of the ballots and approve the addition of Musk Thistle (Carduus nutans) , Bull Thistle (Cirsium vulgare) , and Whitetop (Cardaria draba) to said list in the Southeast Weld Pest Control district and directs the Clerk to the Board to inform the District Advisory Committee of the Southeast Weld Pest Control District. There were 67 landowners who voted in favor of adding musk thistle (Carduus nutans) , bull thistle (Cirsium vulgare) and whitetop (Cardaria drab—to the list of pests to be controlled in the Southeast Weld District and 14 landowners that were opposed. Therefore, through the balloting process, musk thistle, bull thistle, and whitetop are to be added to the list of pests to be controlled in the Southeast Weld Pest Control District.
