WELD COUNTY COUNCIL

The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity
with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at 915 Tenth Street, Greeley,
Colorado, on Thursday, August 1 , 1985, at 7:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL
The following members were present in person: President Bill Rupp,
Vice President Doris Williams, Sid Morehouse, and Ralph Waldo. Nels Nelson
joined the meeting at 7:50 p.m. Also present were one member of the press,
a student, and the Council secretary.
MINUTES
Sid Morehouse made a motion that the minutes of July 11 be approved as
written. Doris Williams seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
ADDITIONS AND/OR DELETIONS
Correspondence added to the agenda included a letter from the Phillips
Petroleum Company (Treasurer's office) , memos from Don Warden (management
specialists) and Personnel (position audit) , and the employee newsletter.
The President stated that the Council should be aware that it will be
starting the salary setting process for elected officials and Commissioners
in about four months.
APPOINTMENTS
The President reminded the members of their upcoming appointments. He
volunteered to attend the Elected Officials Meeting on August 12 as well as
to make an appearance before the Board of Commissioners on August 14. The
next Council meeting will be at the Tri-Town Senior Citizen Center in Dacono.
The secretary was instructed to invite the Commissioners to attend.
CORRESPONDENCE
The President made the correspondence file available to the individual
Councilmen for their review. He was directed to respond to a letter from the
Phillips Petroleum Company regarding the County Treasurer's office.
REPORTS
Let the record reflect that Nels Nelson is now present.
The Councilmen attended Early Warning Budget Worksessions conducted
July 15 through July 23. Each member reported his observations during the
Council meeting. It was agreed that a worksession with the Commissioners
should be arranged to allow the two groups to discuss their suggestions and
questions.
Bill Rupp reported that Don Warden had furnished at Council 's request a
list of management specialists that could be used in future performance audits.
The President was directed to write a letter to each recommended specialist
asking his area of expertise, fee schedule and availability.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
There was no unfinished business to consider.
NEW BUSINESS
Ralph Waldo moved that the July Council bills be paid. Bill Rupp
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
The next scheduled Council meeting is Thursday, September 5, 1985, at
7:00 p.m. , at the Tri-Town Senior Citizen Center, 106 Fifth Street, Dacono,
Colorado.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The time of
adjournment was 9:15 p.m. , on August 1 , 1985.
