The purpose of this memo is to describe the need for immediate replacement of a cardiac defibrillator due to electronic failure. An immediate solution to the problem is also provided for your consideration. While conducting regular testing of a cardiac defibrillator, the power delivery system of the unit failed. The North Colorado Medical Center biomedical shop informs us that the replacement part will cost about $750.00 plus labor. The hospital recently retired all of their Lifepak 4 units. One of those units is available for a purchase price of $500.00 including cable and charging accessories. This unit is an identical model of the defibrillator that needs replacing and is in excellent operating condition. New monitor/defibrillator units cost at least $4,500.00 We are asking that the board approve the purchase of the used Lifepak 4 from North Colorado Medical Center. The faulty unit would then be removed from the County inventory and held in the North Colorado Medical biomedical shop as a source of parts for our other monitor/defibrillator units. The serial numbers of the units are listed below. Faulty Unit Available Used Unit Physio-Control Lifepak 4 Physio-Control Lifepak 4 Serial #10038 Serial #3778 861142 Hello
