TO THE BOARL! OF WELD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
L! a.r Sirs :
CREWE".Goy.
We are the people of Weisner Subdivision l,rpcated on Weld
County Road 22 between Roads 37 and 39 .
Our concern is. that Road 22 is a severe safety hazzard to
our children . The two main problems are the 55 m .p .h .
speed limit and the dust clouds from the traffic .
Road 22 is heavily traveled by big rigs every day . Oil rigs
in particular travel at an excel crated rate of speed .
At one time this was an open rural road , but now we are a
rural residential community with numerous children using
this road to walk on as we have no sidewalks. They stand on
this road to catch their school bus every day . The bus
makes four stops in this one mile stretch each morning ,
midday and afternoon . Our children do not have a shoulder
to stand off the road . At one point it is impossible to see
the children until you crest the hill . Anyone traveling 55
m .p .h . is in immediate danger of hitting the students ,
especially if there is a dust cloud from a previous vehi",l Fes.
The dust is often so thick that you need to stop your car
and wait for it to clear before proceeding .
We feel it is imparitive to the welfare of our children that
the speed limit along this stretch of Road 22 he dropped to
.:;`_'gym .p .h . and that it be posted as such . We woul d also
request signs warning of the bus stops and also warning of
children at play .
As you have seen and corrected the dust cloud hazzard by
oiling the road in the less populated portion of this road
near Highway 85 , we would appreciate the same consideration .
We haven 't had a human fatality yet . Let ' s keep it that
way . Our children are very orec i ous .
_Very truly yours
,
