HomeMy WebLinkAbout871440.tiff RESOLUTION RE: ACCEPTANCE OF PETITION FROM PRAIRIE VIEW PEST CONTROL DISTRICT CONCERNING INCLUSION OF CERTAIN WEEDS ON LIST TO BE CONTROLLED WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Prairie View Pest Control District Advisory Board has submitted a written request to the Board, pursuant to §35-5-104 (8) , CRS , asking that certain weeds be added to the list of weeds to be controlled in this district, with a copy of said letter of request being attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and WHEREAS, the weeds named in said request are Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia esula) and Russian Knapweed (Centaurea repens) , and WHEREAS, the Board has been informed that each of the weeds named in the request comes within the definition of "pest" pursuant to §35-5-101 (10) , CRS, and, therefore , may be added to the list of weeds to be controlled pursuant to §35-5-104 (8) , and WHEREAS, the Board deems it appropriate to accept the petition of the Prairie View Pest Control District Advisory Board to add such weeds to the list of pests to be controlled in said District, and WHEREAS , the Board further deems it appropriate that, pursuant to §35-5-101 , CRS , ballots be prepared and mailed for a vote of landowners and lessees within said District to determine whether said pests should be added to the list, and WHEREAS, when the ballots are returned they shall be counted by Ron Broda, Weld County Pest Inspector; Francis Loustalet, Weld County Treasurer; and Richard Keirnes, Weld County Assessor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, accepts the petition of the Prairie View Pest Control District Advisory Board to include Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia esula) and Russian Knapweed (Centaurea repens) to the list of pests to be controlled in the Prairie View Pest Control District. 871440 Page 2 RE: PRAIRIE VIEW PEST CONTROL DISTRICT BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that ballots be prepared and mailed for a vote of landowners and lessees within said District concerning the inclusion to the list of said pests to be controlled. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the ballots, when returned, shall be counted by the Weld County Pest Inspector, the Weld County Treasurer, and the Weld County Assessor, as hereinabove named.
