Dear Commissioners, •
The Ault Business Association is still very interested in the development
of a Roadside Park at the intersection of highways 14 and 85. We made a
presentation before you on October 16, 1984 requesting funding from the
county share of the Colorado Lottery monies.
Recently we noted the attached article in the Rocky Mountain News regarding
the future development of Colorado Tourist Information Centers at eight
sites in the state. I have written (copy enclosed) to inquire about our
getting on the "list" for such a site and am asking if the Board of
County Commissioners might be of some assistance in pursuing this project.
We would greatly appreciate suggestions from you as to other avenues
we might investigate.

Dear Mr. Meredith,
We recently noted in the newspaper an article regarding the development
of tourist information centers at eight entry points in Colorado. The
Ault Business Association (Chamber of Commerce) has had the desire to
do something just exactly like the ones you describe: rest area, picnic
tables, restrooms and a point for distribution of Colorado tourist
information. Enclosed you will find a sketch of such a site, a park,
designed for the intersection of Colorado highway 14 and U.S. highway 85
in the town of Ault.
We are located south of the Wyoming border approximately 40 miles and west
of Sterling approximately 85 miles. There is a lot of tourist traffic
through our town not only in the summer months but all during the year.
Therefore our interest in developing a roadside park with tourist infor-
mation.
If we were able to offer some of the ammenities such as land, water, land-
scaping etc. which you say Burlington has agreed to donate would you then
consider our location as a "Colorado Tourist Information Center"?
The enclosed sketch for such a site was developed by the University of
Colorado Center for Community Development and Design last summer and we
would like very much to implement this plan.
The chairman of this committee within the Ault Business Association would
be very willing to meet with you and bring more detailed blueprints, budget
estimates etc. if you would be willing to give us direction regarding the
project.
