Re: Poultry operation on Lot 1, Block 1, Ranch Eggs Subdivision, Second
Filing.
Dear Mr. Curtis:
The poultry operation on your property is considered to be a nonconforming
use. Based on a review of USR-710 and conversations with you by telephone
on October 26 and 27, the nonconforming use consists of 22,000 laying hens,
a 40 foot by 244 foot laying barn, a 150 foot by 150 foot outdoor manure
storage area, and a 24 foot by 28 foot egg processing building.
Because the poultry operation is a nonconforming use, the Department of
Planning Services' staff cannot issue a building permit for the 36 foot by
40 foot building to be used for manure and equipment storage. Approval of a
Special Use permit would be required before this building permit could be
issued.
