RE: DESIGNATION OF ED HERRING AS COORDINATOR OF OFFICE OF
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Weld County does have, on occasion, emergency
situations that require dissemination of public information in
order to protect the health and safety of the citizens of Weld
County, and
WHEREAS, the dissemination of public information in an
emergency situation must come from a coordinated and centralized
source to insure accuracy and proper distribution, and
WHEREAS, expertise and resources to fulfill the function
reside within the Office of Emergency Management, and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to designate Ed Herring as the
Coordinator of the Office of Emergency Management and assign him
the responsibility for gathering and disseminating public
information in an emergency situation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that Ed Herring be, and
hereby is, designated as the Coordinator of the Office of
Emergency Management.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Office of
Emergency Management, under the direction of the Coordinator of
Emergency Management, is designated as the Weld County agency
responsible for gathering and disseminating all public information
associated with an emergency situation in Weld County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that all County officials
and employees under the direction of the Board of County
Commissioners , are hereby directed to provide the Office of
Emergency Management all appropriate public information associated
with an emergency situation for dissemination to the public.

RE: OEM AND PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that all County officials
and employees under the direction of the Board of County
Commissioners , are hereby directed to direct all public and media
inquiries to the Office of Emergency Management for coordinated
and centralized information associated with an emergency situation
and to refrain from providing such information to the media or
public directly concerning an emergency situation in Weld County,
to insure that complete and accurate information is disseminated
on a timely basis.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 22nd day of
August, A.D. , 1988 .
