Dear Mr. Schuett:
This letter is in response to your Inspector' s Report of May 21 ,
1986. I am going to explain why we feel we are in compliance
with the Development Standards in question.
DS#1 - The permit is for a kennel facility for 120 dogs. In
my letter to the Planning Board dated August 15 , 1985 it was
stated in Paragraph #2 on Page 1 "a kennel farm operation on
which to house greyhounds and raise pups. " Paragraph #3 on
Page 1 "A kennel would be constructed that would house B2=
racers. " (Note: The permit is for 120 dogs, leaving 38 outside
Of the. kennel building) . Paragraph #3 on Page 2. "There will
also be pup runs. These runs are used for brood bitches and
their pups. There will be a small house in each run, allowing .
• shelter for the. dogs. These runs will be maintained just as
the kennel is, on a daily basis. When the pups are old enough
they will be moved into the kennel. " This portion allows for
pups to be in the runs we have out up. The pups are now 8
months old and will be moved into the kennel when they are
about 12 months old . -

DS#3 - A copy of our erosion plan was turned in by Charlotte
on the date of our Public Hearing to one of the persons from
the Planning Department. Apparently, this plan has been mis-
placed . There is an erosion plan enclosed with this letter.
DS#4 - The grounds are free of trash. The animal waste is re-
moved daily by Melvin or Charlotte, as one of us goes out
daily -to feed , water and care for the pups. The waste is
hauled away from the land by us daily.
DS# 10 - The runs we have put up are shown on the approved •
plot plan. I don' t see where this is a problem.
DS#11 - The answers to the above Department Standards should
take care of this question.
We do have some additional comments. Please read the following:
"Representatives or members of the Weld County Health Department,
Colorado Racing Commission, and Weld County Department of Planning
Services shall be granted access onto the si ,a --epen, fi :ble
time in ohder to insure the operations ca *OWr e

comply with the Development Standards stated herein and all
applicable Weld County Regulations . " The above is Develop-
ment Standard #9. If this had been followed and we were con-
, tacted regarding this inspection, one of us would have gladly
met you on the site to explain or answer any questions that
may have arisen. If things had been handled accordingly we
could have all save some time .
We have worked hard to get our Permit to go through, I find it
hard to believe there is a possibility of it being revoked.
We had been rejected in1984 on a similar permit that we tried
for. Then in, 1985 we tried again on another piece of property,
we followed all the rules and paid all the fees and made seve-
ral trips and calls to your department for help to make sure
things were put together right. Not to mention the time and
money we have already invested in -the property. Now you. are
telling us you would possibly revoke our Use by Special Review
Permit. We have a feeling that one of the neighbors . has com-
plained and that is why we are getting, what we feel to be
harassment on this matter. If that is the case, shouldn' t we
be notified of such an instance.

In regards to the well permit. Charlotte and Melvin both have
made several calls and trips to the Colorado Division of Water
Resources. We have discussed the well permit with at least
a half dozen people in that office and have hadnno real satis-
faction. Charlotte talked with them again on the 28th and
the 29th of May and this is the current status of the well
permit according to Al Eckerman at the Colorado Division of
Water Resources. The processing has been started onoour
well permit, and has been turned over to one of the Engineer-
ing Supervisors for priority. The Supervisors name is Steve
Lautenschlager, and he received the file' on May 29, 1986. .
We hope this letter and the enclosure will take care of the
questions you have regarding our compliance with Development
Standards W' s 1 , 3 , h , 10 and 11. Please let us know if there
is any additional information you require from us. Also if
you would like to meet with one of us to go out to the land
and go over this Inspector' s Report, we would be glad to do
so.
Respectfully, Respectfully,
J /f
