RE: APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF HARVEY GREEN AND JOHN WATSON TO THE
ISLAND GROVE PARK ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS , pursuant to Ordinance # 131 , the Island Grove Park
Advisory Board has been created and is to he composed of City and
County appointments ,
WHEREAS, it has been determined that said Board shall consist
of seven individuals , three to be appointed by the City Council of
the City of Greeley, including one City Council member , and an
additional three to be appointed by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Weld, including one Commissioner
with one additional member to be appointed by majority vote of the
six City and County members , and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that Harvey Green and John
Watson be appointed to said Advisory Board by Weld County, and
WHEREAS , the term for Harvey Green shall begin March 1 , 1985 ,
and expire March 1 , 1987 , and the term for John Watson shall begin
March 1 , 1985 , and expire March 1 , 1988 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that Harvey Green and John
Watson be , and hereby are, appointed to the Island Grove Advisory
Board with terms to expire as hereinabove stated.

Dear Sirs:
The Island Grove Advisory Board has been established by the
City of Greeley and Weld County to improve services within
the Park. The Board has representation from both the City
and County to provide advice to each policy board. Our task
is to evaluate existing programs, policies, services and examine
potential short and long term goals. We encourage you to
work with us to help develop activities and facilities which
benefit citizens of the area. We feel our facilities and
park can become a regional attraction.
We have reviewed and looked at many goals which could improve
the facilities and services we are trying to achieve. Our
most immediate goal is the development of a sound budget for
1986. With your assistance and participation, we can successfully
meet that goal. We would like to have you prepare a list
of maintenance items or capital improvements needed which
would be beneficial to conducting your event. We would like
your list in order of preference and returned to us by 12:00
noon August 5, 1985.
As stated earlier, we are looking at many goals so we will
be in contact with you in the future. If you have a particular
concern which should be addressed by our board, please fuel
free to contact Guy Elliott , Stan Gengler or myself.

Board of County Commissioners:
The Island Grove Park Advisory Board, at their meeting March
28, 1985, voted to recommend to the Board of County Commissioners
that they proceed with their negotiations to purchase the properties
to the south of the Walton Building on 11th Avenue.
The Advisory Board feels that this property would make ideal
parking for the softball complex, as well as large events such
as the Greeley Independence Stampede. The property could be
thus used until such time as the County is ready to build on
this property. In addition, even as a parking lot , the area
would be improved over the present building on the site.
