It formed in calcareous loamy alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is dark brown fine sandy loam 8 inches thick. The subsoil is sandy clay loam 14 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is calcareous sandy loam. In some areas the surface layer is loam.
