WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Lo
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the a m

WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners has the power and z o
authority under the Weld County Home Rule Charter and the Colorado n co
County Home Rule Powers Act, Article 35 of Title 30 , C.R.S. , as m co
amended, and in specific, under Section 30-35-201 (7) , C.R.S . , as
amended, to adopt by Ordinance personnel policy rules and
regulations for the County of Weld, and 21O

WHEREAS, Weld County Ordinance No. 118-G, the Weld County
Personnel Policy Handbook, which repealed and re-enacted Ordinance r7
No. 118 , as amended, became effective on March 29 , 1988 , and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County d
hereby finds and determines that there is a need to amend and
delete certain sections of Weld County Ordinance No. 118-G, and p r
that such amendments to and deletions from Ordinance No. 118-G are
for the benefit of the health, safety, and welfare of the people o w
of Weld County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the following
sections of Weld County Ordinance No. 118-G are amended or deleted
as follows:
Delete all of the section entitled, "Residency" and contained
on page 13 of said Ordinance No. 118-G.

Add the following sentence to the end of the fourth full No
paragraph in the section entitled, "Vacancies" and contained on

"In all instances of transfer, the employee will be
subject to either a promotional review period or a
special review period of six months. " q N

Add the following full paragraph after the third full
paragraph in the section entitled, "Sick Leave" and contained on c
page 31 of said Ordinance No. 118-G: CD o

"All regular full-time employees are authorized five z o
sick leave occurrences per calendar year. A sick leaven co
occurrence is defined as a minimum of one sick leave r co
day, or a number of consecutive sick leave days taken at
any one time. Employees who exceed the five occurrences
are subject to disciplinary action, including, but not
limited to, the revocation of all sick leave privileges z
as set forth in this section, suspension, leave without
pay, and/or termination. " O
Add the following paragraph to the list in the Section
entitled "Conduct" which is found on page 14 of said Ordinance No. o
118-G, Personnel Policy Handbook: d

of the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County and n o
set forth in the Weld County Administrative Manual,
including, but not limited to, smoking in buildings and
vehicles under the control of Weld County and lobbying
by Weld County employees. "
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall become
effective five days after its final public notice , as provided by
Section 3-14 (2) of the Weld County Home Rule Charter.
