B. Actions to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing: Through our outreach
program throughout the year, every attempt was made to reach those persons
and groups that might not necessarily know about or apply to the program,
including low income households, minorities and the elderly. Means of
publicizing the CDBG Rehab program included articles in local papers and
radio announcements on both English and Spanish stations. Special attempts
were made to publicize the program through those organizations involved with
these groups of people including such groups as Senior centers, Social
Security Administration, Catholic Community Services and Al Frente de Lucha.
The utilization of door to door contact was also a successful means.
Because of these attempts to reach these groups of people that are in
many instances the most needy, we felt that we were able to make the program
accessable to all and in doing so were able to further fair housing opportunities.
Posters with the Equal Housing Opportunity message and logo were posted both
in English and Spanish throughout our offices, also.
The Weld County Housing Authority, as a member of the Weld County Housing
Coalition, has been advocating for the adoption of the Uniform Housing Code
by the Weld County Commissioners. The Uniform Housing Code would further the
availability of safe, decent, sanitary housing for low income families in this
area.
