Tomsic Colorado Counties Inc. 1177 Grant Street Denver, CO 80203 Dear John: Enclosed is an application for a rail-highway crossing protection device in accordance with the Special Highway Committee memorandum of June 19, 1987. The crossing on Weld County Road 16 was brought to our attention by a petition from Weld County residents in the Fort Lupton area. A copy of the petition is enclosed. There have been three fatal accidents at this crossing since 1975 with two falling in an 18-month period. Colorado State Patrol accident reports are attached. Please note in the application there are visual obstructions on the west side of the tracks. As you can see from the traffic counts Weld County Road 16 is heavily traveled. It serves a developing area northeast of Fort Lupton known as Aristocrat Ranchettes. Thank you for the opportunity to submit this application. If further information is needed please contact me.
