GLENWOOD CANYON
cep BROCHURES DISTRIBUTED
On Monday, July 22 crews in Glenwood Canyon's Interstate 70 construction
areas began handing out information sheets to motorists. Printed with brown
ink on a buff colored paper stock, the single sheet offers background information
about one-way escort car operations, weekdays; historical notes about the
regions east and west of Glenwood Canyon; and a regional map.
The brochures are available at each of the rest areas the Colorado Department
of Highways has installed. Westbound motorists use a rest area and toilet
facilities at Dotsero, exit #133. Eastbound travelers have facilities west of
Glenwood Springs.
The Department discourages motorists from using county roads over Cottonwood
Pass to bypass Glenwood Canyon. Recently, motorists encountering mud and rough
surfaces have spent far more time near this corner of the White River National
Forest than they would have waiting for I-70 construction in Glenwood Canyon.
The Public Information officer, Colorado Department of Highways, has
arranged for brochures to be mailed with this Highway News issue.
